It’s Thanksgiving week, and even in this absolutely crazy, messed up year, I have a lot to be grateful for. I call these my “Gratitudes.” In place of a regular blog post, I’m going to share some of them with you today.
Last Thursday, I had hip replacement surgery and I am recovering well. I am grateful for both of these things, and for being referred to a good surgeon who was able to explain the procedure to me clearly.
I’m grateful that I can afford health insurance. Because I sure wouldn’t be able to pay for this surgery on my own! I also know there are a lot of folks who can’t afford health insurance in this country. We’ve known the effects of this for many decades, but it’s being magnified right now. I hope some good comes of this and we make sure everyone in this country can afford to be healthy.
I’m immensely grateful that my mother was willing and able to travel to take care of me after surgery. It’s wonderful having her here and she’s enjoying the warmer weather.
I’m grateful that I live in a country where people can express their opinions without fear of repercussions from their government. That’s not true everywhere in the world and even when I disagree with someone else’s perspective, I appreciate that we can both have differing opinions. I’m also grateful for the military members and civil servants who fight to protect this right for all of us.
I’m grateful that, despite the world calamity going on at the moment, I have been able to continue to work and survive. I am lucky enough to work from home to begin with, so everyone else’s transition is my normal. But I know people at all levels of work in all industries who have lost jobs and businesses during this time.
I am grateful that I started the Email Marketing Connection Academy this August, and for the founding members who have joined me in this endeavor. Every week, I get to guide and advise these wonderful folks as they build out their email marketing systems and strategies so they can grow their businesses and serve their customers. It is an absolute pleasure and I love every second of it.
I am grateful that I ran my Email List Apology Challenge, which showed everyone who participated how to start emailing the subscribers they hadn’t talked to in months, or even years, so they could reintroduce themselves and rebuild this relationship to reactivate that list and make that into another business growth opportunity. I’m also grateful that I can now take that experience and make it into a mini-course, which will happen soon.
I’m grateful that I finally revamped my original list building course into what is now Email List Building Made SIMPLE! I enjoyed updating that material and making it even better than it was the first time around. I’m excited to welcome new students into that course who will add their feedback so I can make more improvements.
I’m grateful for the clients I have had this year, and who come back to me year after year. You are the life-blood of my business and I love working with you on your projects. I get to apply what I know to your business and I get to learn so much from you every time.
I am grateful that I live in a beautiful place, with wonderful landlords. I love the community and area of the country I live in and I’m close to the ocean.
I’m grateful that I get to go to the ocean at least once a week and walk on the beach. Feeling the sand on my feet and the waves lapping around my ankles grounds and centers me like no other meditation can. It’s my Happy Place.
I am grateful that the majority of people I know haven’t gotten sick with Covid-19, and those who have are mostly recovered. I do know a few people who are “long haulers” and continue to suffer lingering effects from this disease. I hope they can work with their physicians to find solutions that work for them now and they are able to return to “normal” in the near future.
The rest of you, please be careful! Take care of yourself and your people. Wear your masks, wash your hands, all that good stuff.
Most importantly, I am grateful to you. Thank you for reading these blog posts. Thank you for supporting what I do. I hope the information here helps you with your business or at the very least, that you find what I say interesting and entertaining.
What are your Gratitudes? We all have something to be thankful for, even if it’s a smile from another human being or the smell of fresh air. I am aware that we all come from different circumstances and everyone’s situation is different. You may not feel like you have a lot to be grateful for. I understand that, especially in our current environment.
I hope you can take a moment this week to find something to be grateful for, even if it’s as simple as a ray of sunshine emerging from the clouds.
I’ll be back to my regular blog posts next week.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, wherever you are, whoever you spend it with and however you end up sharing it with others.
