A mentor of mine once said something that really resonated with me. “The most important email every week isn’t the one you read, it’s the one you write.”
Obviously, as an advocate of weekly nurture emails, I agree!
When you write to your email subscribers every week, you’re creating a habit for yourself, and them, that will benefit both of you.
Think about it for a moment.

We All Have Weekly Habits
Think about the myriad of things you do in a week. You probably:
- Go to the grocery store
- Do the laundry
- Take a class (I take a swing dance class every week)
- Participate in some sort of group sport
- Hang out with friends
- Spend time with your partner and/or family
The list goes on and on.
But you get my point. There are things that you do every week that just become a habit.
We get something out of each of these habits, whether it’s having clean clothes and food in the house, staying healthy, or having actual in-person human interaction, but there is a reason for us to continue these habits.

Your Weekly Email Can Become a Habit for Your Subscribers
In that same way that we all have weekly habits that we become accustomed to, we can ask our ideal customers to form habits around our business.
Like reading your weekly nurture emails.
As long as your ideal customers get something out of your weekly nurture email, whether it’s great information that helps them solve their problem, or just something fun and entertaining to read, they’ll make a habit of opening and reading it every week.
And you, as a business owner, a problem solver, and a human being, have lots to share, like:
- Industry insights
- Trends you’re noticing in your business or how your customers use your product or service
- What happened during your weekly Pickle Ball game with the neighbors
- The why behind your business and what matters most to you in serving your people.
But most importantly, that email needs to come from you.
Not from AI, not from another member of your team, not from a copywriter like me…
From you.
From your brain, in your own words.
Every. Single. Week.
I do this every week, so do many top thought leaders and business owners, including my mentor.
You can do it too.

Your Subscribers Want to Hear From You Not From AI
Here’s where you need to form that weekly email writing habit. And yes, it really does matter to your subscribers, which means it also matters to your bottom line.
I already know what you’re going to say…
“Ugh, Tanya, do I really have to write my own emails? It’s so frustrating! I never know what to write and I never have the time…”
Yes. You really should write your own emails.
Because in a world where AI Slop is taking over, it’s becoming increasingly easy for people to identify what is crappy AI output and what is original, from an actual human being.
And yes, it matters. A lot.
I hear over and over how “good” AI is getting at sounding more like a real person.
Sorry, I can still spot AI a mile away. So can most people. Which means so can your ideal customers.
And because of this constant bombardment of AI Slop, as well as our general disconnectedness from each other, people crave genuine human connection.
They want to know that what they’re consuming is coming from a real person, who knows what they’re doing, who they can trust, and who can actually help them.
Just by writing your own email, once a week, from your own brain in your own words, you are setting yourself apart from the majority of your competitors, not to mention other businesses.
And when you do it consistently, giving those people who you can help a way to form a habit around your wisdom and your business…
You’re building a mighty following, a strong customer base, and a community that will support you and your business for years to come.
So if you want your ideal customers, aka email subscribers, to create that weekly habit of reading an email specifically from you every week…
You need to create the habit of writing that email, every week.
After all, a person can’t form a good habit if there’s nothing to form that habit around.

The Easy Way to Create That Weekly Email Writing Habit
If you want to create a new habit, you need to start doing it regularly. And one of the best ways to make sure you stick to it is accountability.
When you know you’re being held accountable for doing something, you’re more likely to show up and do it.
Which is why I created the Email Writing Accountability Group.
It’s a simple way to hold yourself accountable for writing that weekly nurture email and it’s exactly what the name sounds like.
Every week, we get together for an hour and a half.
In the first 30 minutes, everyone writes their weekly email.
Then, we spend 30 minutes reviewing everyone’s email. I give my feedback, as a professional copywriter and email marketer. And all group members are encouraged to give their feedback and impressions too.
Because knowing someone’s initial reaction to what you’re saying is incredibly helpful, even if they’re not your ideal customer.
After that, everyone takes 20 minutes to incorporate the feedback they received into their first draft and make final edits to their emails.
If we have time at the end, I give everyone’s email a final once over.
And we’re done.
You’ve got a fantastic email written, approved, edited and ready to go out to your subscribers who have formed a habit of reading your emails.
And you’ve got a supportive community of fellow business owners who get what you’re going through, because they’re doing the same thing.
If you’re wondering whether you’re allowed to use AI, at least to get started, many of my group members use AI to write the first drafts of their emails. Then, during our review session, I help them find the places they need to humanize their AI output.
We also make sure everything in the email actually represents their business, in case AI decided to make something up for them. (It happens a lot.)
