Live performance is one of my favorite things.
Seeing artists creating and sharing their art is pure magic to me.
For those who may not know, I used to be a professional actor and musician. That used to be me standing up there, sharing my magic. Occasionally it still is. But not to the extent it used to be.
One of the many reasons I love live performance is because of the connection between artist and audience. That is the magic, right there. It’s a beautiful feedback loop where the artist gives, the audience receives, then gives back to the artist, who keeps right on giving. The energy builds and fills everyone’s soul.
I remember nights where I walked off stage feeling like I was floating 6 inches off the ground, I was so energized by my audience. And I’ve felt the same way walking out of a theater after watching a show, chatting with random strangers about how wonderful it all was.

One of The Most Innately Human Things
This human connection is so important to our very existence. It is what helps us thrive and bring more beauty and creativity to the world.
It’s why I still love getting on stage and singing my heart out every once in a while. (I am trying to do this more often.)
And why I love writing these emails every week. It’s my chance to share my creativity with you and inspire you to bring your creativity to the world, whatever form that creativity may take.
We create a beautiful feedback loop of our own, you and I, through this simple exchange of words.
This human connection is what is so important in our individual lives, and in our businesses. We all crave this feedback loop because it keeps us going. It helps us grow.
This is also why I encourage you to write to your own subscribers once a week. So you can create that energetic feedback loop with them and help them thrive, so they will help you thrive.
By building this connection between you as soon as they join your list, you’re showing them that you’re invested in them as people. That this is a genuine relationship and you’re in it for the long haul if they are.
And just like I keep going back to see my favorite performers every time they’re in town because they fill me with joy, your subscribers will keep supporting you and your business because you fill them with joy.
And they will fill you with joy in return.
I would love to hear about how you bring joy to your subscribers and customers in your business. Please send me an email or comment below to tell me all about it.
Let’s build this feedback loop and fill each other’s souls.
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope you get out to see some live performance or even get up and perform yourself, wherever you are.
I’ll talk to you again next Thursday.
Cheers,
Tanya
P.S. This week’s pictures are of me on stage a few years ago at CONvergence, in Minneapolis, MN and Jon Batiste (one of my favorite performers) performing 2 years ago at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA.
