“I never know what to say” is the most common complaint I get from business owners who have a hard time writing nurture emails regularly.
To be fair, everyone wants to be able to write an email fast. When you’re running a business, you’ve got a billion things going on at once. You don’t have all day to spend writing a single email.
However, email marketing is one of the best ways to stay in regular contact with your current and potential customers. Add to that, it has the highest ROI of any marketing channel, at 4400% and it becomes one of those things you “know you need to do.”
The problem lies in knowing where to start.
Why Your Nurture Emails Matter
I want to start with the real problem… Keeping up with your email marketing.
For most business owners, this is the sticking point. Whether you’re sending an email a day, a week, every 2 weeks or every month, you still have to write the darn thing!
That means you need to come up with an idea to write about every day/week/two weeks/month. This can take a lot of energy and be a constant source of frustration.
Trust me, I get it. I’ve been doing this for 6 years now, for myself and for my clients. I know exactly how frustrating it can be.
A lot of my clients ask, “Why do I need to send emails? Do people even read them?”
The answer is yes people do read them. And you need to send those emails regularly to keep your business top of mind.
You may have noticed I refer to “nurture emails.” That is the name for those emails you send regularly.
The name refers to the fact that these emails nurture the relationship between you and your subscribers. They give your subscribers a way to get to know, like, and trust you and your company. On the flip side, you have the chance to position yourself as the authority in your field of expertise.
These emails also nurture your subscribers along their buyer’s journey, to the point where they’re ready to purchase. You can use them to deliver the “right” information at the “right” time, so when that person is ready to plunk down their hard-earned cash, they plunk it down to buy your product or service.
And to be honest, you can sell in your nurture emails. In fact, you should sell in your nurture emails.
There is an art to doing it that doesn’t involve being obnoxious and yelling at people to “buy my stuff buy my stuff buy my stuff” yet convinces them that they should take whatever action you’re asking them to take.
So yes, sending nurture emails is absolutely worth it.
As long as you can figure out what to say…
Defeating “I Never Know What to Say”
As I mentioned earlier, I totally get this problem.
What’s worse, this problem has two layers.
- Layer 1: Coming up with an idea.
- Layer 2: Finding the words to express what you want to convey.
Both of these make it hard to write an email fast. In some cases, they make it impossible to get started!
Fortunately, after years of writing emails for myself and my clients, I found a simple way to break the cycle of “I never know what to say,” so I could write emails faster.
Using the 7 Email Types.
“Wait… What?” I hear you cry.
Let me explain.
There are 7 different email formulas or “types” you can use to write a nurture email.
The Rant
Boldly state your opinion on something within your industry or niche.
The Story
Use a story from your personal life, a common “life story” or something like an urban legend or fairy tale to talk about your business or your product or service.
The How To
Take an aspect of your product or service and write a basic How-To guide. Don’t give everything away but deliver enough value that your subscribers get a good idea of what using your product or service will be like.
The Case Study
Use a success story from one of your current customers to show how your product or service has improved their lives.
Ripped from the Headlines
Just like it sounds, take a story or issue from current events or news and write about it in relation to your product or service.
The Interesting Fact
Find an interesting fact about your product or service and write about it. (I know, it sounds way too easy. It really is that easy.)
Objections
Address common objections that your subscribers have when it comes to purchasing or using your product or service.
These 7 email types make it so much easier to write an email fast. They give you a basic formula or structure to follow, so you always have a starting point and can figure out what to say.
But to be honest, you do need a bit more than this.
You also need:
- A good subject line, to stand out from all the other emails in your subscribers’ inboxes.
- Compelling reasons to get someone to keep reading and to want your product or service.
- A call to action, so people will click through to whatever it is you want them to see or do next. (Yes, every email you send should have a call to action.)
With these 4 components, you won’t be stuck trying to come up with ideas or staring at a blank page. Instead, the words will flow from your fingers, and you’ll be able to bang out an awesome email in no time flat.

The FAQS
For those of you who still have questions, I have answers.
Here we go…
I haven’t emailed my list in forever – will this workshop help me?
Oh my goodness, YES!
That’s why I’m offering this workshop! When I talk about emailing your list regularly, so many people tell me, “I never know what to say in my emails,” or “It takes me so long to write them, I just can’t find the time to do it.”
I get this at a very deep level.
I told you earlier that I’ve been writing emails for my clients, and to my own list for years. I know what it’s like to stare at a blank screen, having no idea what to say.
The whole point of this workshop is to make writing emails easy. That way, you’ll be more motivated to do it on a regular basis. Which leads to better engagement with your email list, and a stronger relationship with them where they like and trust you.
Bottom line, it means more sales and more growth in your business.
So, if this is you, there is hope!
I don’t have an email list to write to yet – Should I still take this workshop?
Now is the perfect time to take the 30-Minute Email Workshop. As soon as you start growing your email list, you’ll need to send those regular nurture emails to show your new subscribers why they should buy from you.
Start writing those nurture emails now, so you have some ready to send right away. That way, your new subscribers don’t receive that first welcome email, then never hear from you again until you want to sell them something and wonder, “Who is this person and why have they invaded my inbox?”
When you send regular nurture emails, you save money, effort and time as you grow your email list and your relationship with your subscribers. Plus, you avoid having your emails end up in the Spam folder or worse yet, getting blacklisted.
I don’t have anything to sell yet. Should I email my subscribers anyway?
Absolutely! You want to start your relationship with your subscribers on the right foot by letting them know who you are, what you do, and what you stand for. That way you can grow your know, like, and trust factor in advance of having something to sell.
And by sending nurture emails regularly, you can train your subscribers to open your emails and click on your links, even if you’re sending them to blog posts, podcasts, articles, or something similar. Once you’ve got something to sell, they’ll want to click through and find out what you’ve been up to, and they’ll be primed to buy.
Why will it take 2.5 hours for you to show me how to write an email in 30 minutes?
Fair question.
There’s a lot that goes into writing a great email that your subscribers want to open and read.
I’ll show you the techniques I use to speed up my writing and ideation, so you can get done fast.
I’ll also give you copywriting techniques you can apply to your emails, as well as every other piece of marketing material you write.
And you will actually write an email in half an hour, during the workshop. You’ll also have time to edit and polish it, so you can send it right after we wrap up the workshop if you want to.
So, yeah, 2.5 hours to write an email in 30 minutes. I promise it will be 2.5 hours well spent. Possibly the most valuable 2.5 hours you’ll ever spend focused on your emails.
